InJAC Summit and CE’s Available

On May 4th, in observance of World Asthma and Allergy Month, the Indiana Joint Asthma Coalition (InJAC) held its 3rd Annual Asthma Summit.
Participants heard from subject matter experts on a variety of topics related to asthma, environmental issues, a holistic approach to asthma treatment, and myths and facts about asthma and how trauma and stress affect chronic diseases.
Jessica Jackson and Stacey Denham from the Allergy & Asthma Foundation of America (AAFA) discussed myths and facts about asthma and how the environment is crucial to treating, preventing and controlling asthma outcomes. Kaylee Evans and Courtney James with Riley Hospital shared perspectives from the pharmacist and nurse viewpoints about how to safely use asthma medicines and devices and using a holistic approach to understanding and treating people with asthma. Monica McKonkey closed out the summit with a presentation about chronic disease, trauma, and stress, and how they intersect with health outcomes.
